Working like a dog – with your dog?

by Filed under Pet News

Over 400 companies, Google Inc. is one of them, are proud to call themselves dog (pet)-friendly.
Hundreds of dogs now accompany their owners at their workplace, some companies allow telecommuting for their employees that prefer to be with their animals during work. Several thousand companies are expected to participate in the nearest future, an incredible increase from a few hundred some 10 years ago. The pet-friendly policy is beneficial for both sides – employers and employees. Not only do animals create a bond between workers, the absentee time decreases significantly.

A survey indicates that especially dog owners would be willing to work longer hours if their pet could be around them. About 30% of pet owners would accept a pay cut if they could take their animal to work.

While many dogs could be found in smaller companies for some years already, more and more corporations are willing to accept animals. As of now it is still a rather rare sight to see dogs joining their owners in conference rooms attending meetings or snore beside their desks, but in the near future we might see it much more often!

Why not ask your boss?
