Animals and Surgery

by Filed under Veterinarians - Insurance

Is your veterinarian there for you and your animal?

In case your dog or cat needs surgery and the veterinarian requires an overnight stay make sure that qualified staff, such as a trained assistant or a vet is available to monitor your animal during the night. Most post surgery problems are likely to arise during the first 24 hours.

If the facilities are not staffed properly, try another clinic. Or, discuss the option to take your pet home to care and monitor yourself. In that case though make sure to have emergency contacts handy that are available during the night in case the need arises. Many animals actually benefit from being in the care of their owners and recouperate faster in their homes.
