A stroll with our dog through a winter wonderland is absolutely beautiful, and should not be missed. Do consider though that your animal can be exposed to dangers you might not even be aware of.

Personally, I am not a big fan of keeping cats outside, even letting them outside. Nevertheless I am perfectly aware of that this is a common practice, especially in rural areas.
During winter time though, I absolutely recommend to keep the animals inside. Cats are very seldom able to withstand the cold temperatures and dampness. When temperatures are low, domestic outdoor cats and feral cats often seek warmth under the hoods of cars. This can lead to injuries and death from fans and belts when the engine gets started.

Dry Heaves is a sign for a potentially serious condition in dogs and cats. Signs of dry heaves are gagging or attempting to vomit without discharge. The reasons for dry heaves indicate that your animals has an internal infection, a food allergy, bloat, liver problems, internal parasites or that it has swallowed a poisonous substance. One of the most common is bone meal fertilizer. This fertilizer contains finely ground bones that are mixed with about 30% phosphate and some nitrogen. Bone meal is fed to farm animals but should not be eaten by dogs. The high bone content though makes it rather attractive for them to see it as a food source.
